Gibson announce limited edition Chris Cornell ES335!

Re: Gibson announce limited edition Chris Cornell ES335!

My buddy has a real nice Sheraton set up very similiarly but with TV Jones pups. Great sounding guitar, I like the CC sig too.

You guys arguing price all realize that the artist whose name gets used gets a good piece of change for every one of these they sell right?

I don't know about filtertrons in a 335? I would have to play it first!

I like this guitar a lot. Every time I see a 355 or a dot I know I want one. And this one is very cool

Re: Gibson announce limited edition Chris Cornell ES335!

I just played a matte black version with regular Gibson Tune 'O' Matic bridge. It had aged nickel Lollars, and clear cream knobs. The first thing I noticed was the shred-fast neck profile, which was really fun to play. It's pretty much like the Gibson Classic 60 slim taper profile. Chording was effortless, and I could rip all over the neck just like any shred stick. The satin feel on the neck really makes it a guitar suited for wild lead playing, which ironically is not what Cornell does.

Because of the rarity of this guitar, and since it's expensive at 3K, this makes it a prime collectible in years to come.
Buying it is no mistake in this case. It will hold value because there won't be tons of them out there. The best part is that it's a freakin gem. It's a fast playing 335, in matte green or black with Lollar Filtertrons.

I loved the guitar and would really consider it if it were $1500 or I had a large expendable income. Keep in mind, I already have a Gibson Custom Shop ES-335, so another one isn't in the cards. But the Cornell model definitely gets a two thumbs up. I played the matte black one without a Bigsby.

This is one of those things that should be obvious but for some reason It never occurred to me.

I really dig the guitar, but I would never pay that much money for it.

Are these weight-relieved? I hate swiss cheese gibsons.

Nah, I'd rather get an Ibby John Scofield sig.

;)
Nice.
Yea, those are hot.
Unfortunately, I filled my last need for a semi-hollow with the acquisition of a Teal Blue ES-335LE just a couple months ago.
Between that and the Carvin SH225, I think I'm set.
:)

Re: Gibson announce limited edition Chris Cornell ES335!

Guys, I never quite got the whole ES-335 thing. I find them too large and uncomfortable and I think an SG or Les Paul sounds better than any ES-335. For whay I play, rock and hard rock, LPs and SGs are where it is at when it comes to Gibson.

One could argue a semi hollow body is better for clean tones, but certainly not that much. For gain, in my opinion, an ES-335 can't hold a candle to a good LP or SG. :)

That's like trying to explain sex to a virgin.
Frustrating and ultimately pointless.

Crank a 335 thru a Fender Deluxe. Guitar>cord>amp.
Thank me later.

I hear ya bro. My main amps are a Bogner Shiva and Mesa Dual Rectifier and in a band setting, I find an LP or SG punches and sounds thicker than semi hollow bodies I have used. The ES-335 is great for clean however!

Damn ! I have been waiting for a long time for the Papersoul 335 sig from Gibson. Oh well, now i'll have enough money for two Dora The Explorer Explorers when they're released.
