so there's this canadian guitar orientated TV show directed by kim mitchell, guitar picks. i always PVR it and watch it and it's usually a rerun. yesterdays show was a new one featuring the blackwater.

it takes 20 days for a les paul to be made from start to finish. there was a fantastic factory tour.

i've checked out some of the big box guitar shops for it and i can't seem to find it to be available.

quick surprise poll, les paul vs PRS...what's better?

i really appreciate the 20 day build time for the les pauls. probably every model higher than the standard gets the same TLC on the assembly line.

Les Paul al the way. I just can't seem to warm up to the PRS scale. It just feels awkward to me

The Chad Kroeger Blackwater LP is actually really nice. It took me a second of constant feedback to figure out the controls though. It's another LP with a piezo bridge, and it's volume connected to the rhythm tone, like the Alex Lifeson model and many others. Once you get used to that, you've essentially got a LP Std with nice black flametop.

I like PRS Singlecuts and McCarty's too, but if given the choice, I'd take the Blackwater LP.

if the Chad K model didnt have the stars, Id LOVE it!!! 20 days huh?? So, I guess the other 40 days of my waiting for the guitar to be rebuilt was just G trying to get out of it.... %#$!@!!

i guess the blackwater has been discontinued.

Although my favourite guitar in my stable is an '87 Les Paul, I find myself always reaching for the Navarro first. It has become my go to guitar (if only it had an ebony board).

Seriously if I had to choose between current production Les Pauls (not Custom Shop), or PRS (not private stock) ... PRS without even thinking about it.

I've sold every Gibson I've ever bought. I now have a Heritage H535 that I love and a PRS CE24 that I've used for Gibson'esqe sound for the last ten or fifteen years.

If I wanted to get as close to a LP tone as possible and fix all of the issues of the LP, I'd get either a PRS SC245 or a Skermetta S series. The Skermetta's probably the better choice of the two and its cheaper.

I have both a Les Paul and PRS. If Inwanted another Les Paul I'd go with one of PRS's single cuts with the 24.5 scale, which I think these days is the Stripped 58. Basically since PRS are made to a much higher standard, much higher quality control, so off the rack, a PRS will likely play perfect and need little or nothing further.

Every Gibson I've played, even historical, recent ones with PLEKS, still need alot of work to get them to play at the level of a PRS.

Soon I plan on taking my 86 Les Paul to my local lutheir who refretted my EBMM Axis, who will refret my Les Paul, PLEK it and correct any problems Gibson should've done when the guitar was first made. The EBMM Axis came back playing better than my PRS, so my Les Paul will come back being both a PRS and Gibson killer
