I don't get why there are two killswitch buttons, but otherwise I think it's cool. At least it has all his own features instead of the way Fender tends to do artist series Strats...

Oh, and about the guitar. I think Buckethead's guitar looks cool. I like the sig model's clean, minimalist look. The switches and their locations, as well as the absence of inlays on the fretboard would require modifications to my playing style, which at this point is asking a bit much.
But let's see. Single cutaway body, larger than a typical Les Paul and chambered, longer scale length... My Hamer Monaco Superpro covers that base. And the switches and knobs all do what I'd expect them to and are right where I expect them to be.

I like the lack of inlays, it's definitely something I'd choose if I were to design a guitar. I like the minimalist appearance and I also just find it funny how we bicker about fretboard woods only to cut out almost half of that wood in favor of plastic (in the case of block inlays).

You Rock! I continue to be educated here. I thank you for that info.. I honestly also questioned why the big deal about the glue.. I first heard it mentioned when talking about that other model they have out made from wood pieces and I assumed ( I know, dangerous) that they were trying to sugar coat leftovers buy making it sound fancy.. I A) didnt know hide glue was made from animals: B) Really see your point in that they are pointing out the change.. I applaud them for that.

As far as this model, I think its kinda cool.. I like it over all. I prefer the small black kill button Ive seen on his guitar or Id have made them white on this so they dont look so cartoonish. ( but this is MY personal taste , but Buckethead is cartoonish)

I'm guessing the buttons are red because it adds a bit of KFC-corporate-colors vibe to the guitar.

And there are two, to fill the holes.

Other than the two kill-switches I like it for a Buckethead sig.
The pickups would go anyway so no prob for not being what he uses.

Thanks to Zerb for finally explaining why they feel the need to tell the world the glue they use.

Now if only someone would explain why they also feel the need to present the existence of a 3-way as a feature and go into explaining the exact function i.e. when down it activates the bridge pickup, middle both, up the neck pickup etc... :dunno:

my guess is that the 2 kill switches allow you to do 2 handed stutters, like tapping on a table...more rhythmic variation. actually, i never really 'got' the whole kill switch thing (started by Randy on Tribute?), as it seems there are much better ways to manipulate a guitar signal. But I guess it is cheap to produce.

I like the lengthened scale idea with 24 frets, thats new for Gibson, but the color and kill switch just isn't my thing, I would like to hear it tho...

Just before Dave Mustaine ended up at ESP (and then Dean) he'd spoken about a possible relationship with Gibson and how it didn't work out in the end because Gibson had refused to make him sig guitars in the 24 fret variety. Now, whether or not that's true I don't know as Mustaine tends to contradict himself alot (and that's putting it mildly). But if it is, it's intersting that they would put out a guitar like this for Buckethead but not something far less "out there" for Mustaine.......who's sig guitars are very popular in the marketplace and have always sold well whether they be Jacksons, ESP's, or Deans.

But yeah, i'm liking this Buckethead guitar more and more.

Minimalist, yes. Not sure why a 'player's guitar" needs to be stripped down & plain. You can play a sophisticated-looking guitar just as well. Kind of ugly for a LP; I like flame tops or Customs myself. But if people want it, hey...

Oh that's just how I feel about these things - don't like figured tops, binding, inlays, gold. Never said they had to be that way. The Buckethead LP is antithetical to these things, that's why I like it.

And yes, it should come with a bucket and a mask. Hmm, the bungee rope style strap would be cool too.

To respond to the comments about why this guitar has two killswitches instead of one...
Buckethead actually uses two different white LPs. One has just the lower killswitch, and the original toggle hole has a plastic plug in it. The other (not seen as often) has a killswitch in both spots, just like his new sig. I found a pic of the other one here...

EDIT: I would have guessed that they were in fact the same guitar, before and after mods, but the one pictured here looks like it has the standard black headstock face, the other has white.

If it were mine, I'd put an SH-6 in the bridge and poor blood all over it. . . blood looks killer on white!

I am in agreement tho, as I also dislike signature guitars that don't match what the artist plays.

Some people will buy it, Gibson does there research before they build I'm sure.

I'd be interested in test driving the long scale though.
