Gibson Double-Diamond Line

Re: Gibson Double-Diamond Line

i like 'em. wouldn't pay for one, but i'd gladly accept one and play it onstage.

Re: Gibson Double-Diamond Line

heh they went so far as to post a rebuttal in the facebook comment section against a particularly verbose and well-thought out decrier. They went to explain that these are marquee guitars, and they have a wide variety of play and price levels in their selection....blahblahblah. I am glad to see that the post was so galvanizing and that the backlash was such that they felt they needed to address it personally.

Re: Gibson Double-Diamond Line

the V and explorer are so damn f#$Q%&g hawt!!!! yeah, they are just for marquee, who cares?, they're cool, it would be great if they make replicas of them with fake diamonds and gold at the price of the normal models (or even better at melody maker price) for those that liked the guitars, and about overpriced guitars, even gibson offers better deals with their high-end guitars than other companies offers for the same price with a totally plank looking guitar that you realice are on the low end.....

I'm a fan of good Gibsons, but don't necessarily think everything the company makes has to be tailor made for my taste. These look like something you'd see hanging in the lobby of a Vegas casino.....fancy marquis guitars. That's the purpose. There's a huge market for guitars, and that's just one of them.

Let me guess......one BILLION dollars?

Re: Gibson Double-Diamond Line

Ok so I just went to the Gibson site to look it over. Admittedly, I haven't been there in a long time.

They actually have some cool stuff. I didn't know about the new frets they're using, the Graphtech nuts, or the new strap buttons. All great improvements in my book. The pricing even looks attractive. The new models look varied, and innovative, even if some of them aren't my thing, there's plenty to choose from (minus an explorer or flying V...)

So maybe I opened my mouth too soon. Thanks for opening my eyes to this stuff guys. And thanks for doing it in a respectable manner as well.

Re: Gibson Double-Diamond Line

This appellation cannot fail to amuse older Brits such myself and Chris of Arabia. Over here, Double Diamond was a decidedly downmarket brand of beer.

Re: Gibson Double-Diamond Line

If they released these with just the snazzy pin striping and no diamonds, I'd totally go for an explorer or midtown.

The pinstriping reminds me of the 80s models..

Well, the benefit to these. you could buy one for your fiance. be a gift for both.. or an anniv gift at 25 years which is the diamond anniv IIRC

LOL!!

Re: Gibson Double-Diamond Line

like the pinstriping.

token diamonds on the headstock are all kinds of stupid though. Would like to rock any of those, especially the SG/explorer/V, but I would totally knock those stupid diamonds off.
