Gibson EDS 1275 Double Neck and his copies

I guess everyone of you recognizes the famous Gibson EDS 1275, which was used by Jimmi Page in several shows. Here it is: http://cgi.ebay.com/GIBSON-EDS-1275...7QQihZ016QQcategoryZ47073QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Anyway the question is: what about the copies of this guitar? I mean Fernandes or Burny (both labels exist) - http://cgi.ebay.com/BURNY-FERNANDES...9QQihZ016QQcategoryZ33040QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem and Ibanez 2402 http://ibanezregister.com/Gallery/vintage/gal-2402.htm

Who had experience with these copies? Is it possible to compare them with original? Are they good enough? Some folks say Ibanez is even better... But I don't know whether to believe it.

Thank you

The Fernandez looks alot better than the Epiphone copy, which has an alder body and flame maple veneer

Re: Gibson EDS 1275 Double Neck and his copies

I owned an Ibanez for over ten years and I've owned a 1977 Gibson for the last two or three. As far as the sound, the Ibanez was right there with the Gibson. Mine had the white/black Dimarzio pickups in the six and the chrome covered twelve. The twelve neck didn't have great action, but the six was excellent. You could actually get to the higher frets with the Ibanez where with the Gibson, forget about doing a solo any higher than in G up there.

The Gibson six however is the sweetest playing six string I own or have ever owned. It's a hair better than my two Les Pauls, which are a 75 and 73. I remember playing a Burny years and years ago and thinking that my Ibanez was overall a better guitar--but it was in a music store, used, so it may not have been set up the way I liked, the strings could have been old etc...

Hope this helps. :smokin:

I saw Triumph live with Yngwie Malmsteen opening. You know, I thought Rick was the better guitar player that night. Wiggie's sound was so shrill I thought my ears were going to bleed. That doubleneck was COOL. I was seated like in the parking lot, lol, and it still shone like a beacon. It was so white! I always thought that was a Gibson. Guess I was wrong.

Holy freaking crap..... one of the most awesome guitars EVER!

This was mine. 1977 in Walnut as well. In the six string I had a Seth Lover bridge and Antiquity neck, and in the twelve, an Antiquity bridge and Seth Lover neck.

I've got a Epi copy - not the one with the maple veneer. Its solid wood and has 2 bolt on necks. Looks just like the Gibby version.

It sits in its case waiting for the the day I learn to play TSRTS, The Rain Song, and Stairway.
