Gibson EDS-1275 pick up change

What would you suggest for a pickup changes for a Gibson EDS-1275?

Please give me some suggestion for all four pups?

Gibson says that the 498T is installed as bridge pickup, with the 490R as the neck pup.

BUT then Gibson states "Taking the 490 one step further, the 498 swaps the Alnico II magnet to an Alnico V”.

I want Seymour Duncan pups to get a nice blues / rock tone for the 6 string and classic rock for the 12 string.

Also, the wiring setup is crazy, any advice?

Re: Gibson EDS-1275 pick up change

Say: a 59 set for the 6-string, a shred set for the 12

^^^^^^ This

In all honestly, if it was an Epiphone with bad pickups, I'd change them.

But in a Gibson, with 4 pickups, I'd leave it stock, IMO its too expensive to change all 4. Instead I'd change the pots to CTS 500K's

Re: Gibson EDS-1275 pick up change

All new 500k pots and good caps.

Pickups...I'd change 'em too so I feel ya.

I love alnico v on things like SG's so I'm going to be real inclined to suggest 59's for the 6 string side or a Pearly Gates set which still have a strong bass for alnico II but have less mud than 59's especially in the neck position.

12 string side, no doubt I'd put a Jazz set in there...the added chime and clarity will really be nice with a 12 string....maybe, if you're feeling adventurous put a coil split for the Jazz pickups on a push pull pot...

Re: Gibson EDS-1275 pick up change

Remember that the SG body thickness does not let you fit most humbuckers in it.
