Gibson Gary Moore LP Standard VS. Studio Premium Plus

What's the difference?

$1,000 truss rod cover?

Yep, that's about it...

While researching my Les Paul Studio Premium Plus, I noticed one of the finish options was Amber.

It strongly reminded me of the Gary Moore Signature LP....

I wonder why? Perhaps the key feature of the Studio is no Neck or Body Binding... Essentionaly, Gibson markets the Gary Moore as a more expensive Les Paul Standard... Its a Studio...

Which guitar is which????

I love Les Pauls and Heritages... Gary Moore is one of my hero's... But this kind of marketing ploy is just crazy and I feel bad for anyone who drank the Kool Aid on this one.....

The difference in price between the two is about $1000...

So I swapped the hardware for chrome and added mismatched control knobs, would I be just creating the Gary Moore signature guitar?

I'm not sure but that's a beautiful guitar!

(I also noticed that the Gary Moore was void of binding)

The GM is beautiful in that pic.

I'd like to think that the GM got better woods and some attention to detail but probably not, the Studio has a rosewood board too.

To use the name probably costs Gibson a few dollars. Haven't played either so IDK

Supposedly the Gar Moore is higher grade wood, but I think the top on that studio looks better. According to Gibson, the GM is weight relieved, but IDK if it's traditional, modern, chambered.

I'm a sucker for Trans Amber...

Lemonburst,not so much...

But,still,would.
Both.

The quality of a piece of wood is best judged when you play it, not when you look at it. Not when you read spec sheets on the internet.

Re: Gibson Gary Moore LP Standard VS. Studio Premium Plus

Both look great although I really don't really care for gold hardware. As mentioned before, I would hope that for $1,000 more there would be more attention to detail, quality of wood, pickups, etc.

So I saw the GM today at a store, the one on your pic looks much nice. Didn't have time to play it though maybe another day.
