Gibson Les Paul for sale $150

Re: Gibson Les Paul for sale $150

The cutaways on LP's are rounded. That one looks more oval-shaped anyway. No headstock picture AND the use of the photo in multiple places means it's fake.

Re: Gibson Les Paul for sale $150

im calling fake

Disagree.

The photograph is of a genuine Gibson Gary Moore model Les Paul, modified with a Seymour Duncan bridge/treble pickup. The top is too thick to be Photoflame. Also, in folded over plastic, the "grain" would have wrapped around the top edge of the guitar. What you see in the OP photo is real grain and flame showing correctly through the clear varnish at the edge of the guitar.

and scam.

Agree.

Probably a means to lure unsuspecting Astrozombie's into the dodgy part of town with a view towards robbing them. Bwa-ha-ha-haaaaa.

The listing is by a scammer who has appropriated a photograph of somebody else's guitar.

Re: Gibson Les Paul for sale $150

yeah but who says that isn't a gibby copy (a good one!)

but yeah i thought it was a scam too.

It might be a picture of a good Gibson copy, but I doubt the seller has a great copy that he's offering for $150.

The only reasons to copy a famous guitar design are;
1) to sell it at a price the undercuts the genuine article.
2) to add extra features unavailable on the genuine article
3) to imitate something scarce/unavailable (Ibanez has built far more Moderne and Futuras than Gibson.)

In all three cases, in order to be profitable, the copyist has to build something for which there is demand.

The Gibson Gary Moore signature LP was always a niche market product. (It now appears to have merged with the BFG model.) Who is going to go to very much trouble to copy something for which there is a limited market?

Think of brands such as Klein and Turner. Tiny demand for the real thing. Zero demand for copies because anybody who would want a guitar like that expects it to have been built to the very highest standards, money no object.

I think astro should take some buddies and go look at it. Pueto Rican's are tough....right? At least that's what they used to say in Brooklyn when I was growing up.
