Gibson Les Paul GT $2500

I'm glad they now have the Standard available in just plain black too.

I don't mind a well-done Tobacco burst. Or Darkburst. Or well, really, I can learn to tolerate them. But not every fucking Les Paul has to be burst. Not all of us want to play dad rock.

When I first started getting interested in gear, the Les Paul Gothics were the rage. I sooooooo want a black Les Paul with no binding and black hardware.

I miss those. Ah the 00s.

I've noted that based on Reverb listings most of what I like stops in the early 2010s based on listed production dates.
They still make some cool stuff here and there.

They made an open pore black stain finish SG. Honestly, it wasn't amazing, but it wasn't expensive either (by Gibson standards).

I think it's just that their target demographic is certainly not people who're into heavy music for the most part. They have the Dave Mustaine sig right now, but I honestly don't love it. Do you like it?

It's just a slightly tweaked Jackson in many ways--and you know I'm a Jackson mark. :)

He has his Epiphone and Kramer lines too I think. Or maybe just his Kramer one.

I don't like Vs because of neck dive, especially fixed bridges. I have Floyded ones but I don't play them much. Explorers are the most comfortable guitars for me to play.

Most of the dudes here who play Gibson are into the whole Southern doom/sludge thing. Big beards. Camo shorts. Combat boots. Sunn, Gibson, Marshall, Orange. That whole crowd.

I always thought that kind of crowd was more into the whole quirky 70's looking guitars like Guild and whatnot. Or the modern ones that have that vibe kinda like Dunable. Or those misshapen SG/Les Paul Hybrids. Or the aluminum neck guitars that don't hold tuning for shit, LOL.

They actually have the Dave Mustaine V at L&M here. It actually looks pretty except for the inlays. I'm not sure I dig those.

But yeah, I like Explorers as well. A lot, really. I used to have an EX-401 before I moved to Canada that I had to sell when I moved. I really miss it. I know it's not really an Explorer. It's pointier and smaller. But it's been one of the best guitars I've owned. I'd love a black or natural Gibson with the 500T/496R pickups. Dark Tranquillity/Amon Amarth for days!

Not every Les Paul is for everyone.

This does not work for me personally, however, I find it 100% Bad@$$ and could rock TF out of it.

I think the Chrome rings totally work.

They're nice accents but they make the pups look super wide.

Is it a one night stand kind of guitar, Aceman?

70s is pretty much it. They haven't gotten past the 70s and pass on shred, probably because it requires consistent practice.

They're not spinning an Obscura disc anytime soon.
