It's got the sealer for sure. The Satin on top of that has to be either nitro or poly... probably the same stuff that's on my SG Special Faded. I saw a discussion on it where it was mentioned that it would unusual for Gibby to use poly. Either way, I want the factory job which also includes the treatment on the rest of the guitar, not just the top. I don't just want to sand the finish off a regular standard (for several reasons).

I think Gibson uses poly a ot nowadays actually. I could be wrong, I'm no expert, but they certainly don't use nitro as much anymore.
That sucks to me because poly sucks donkey tasties. I love how Nitro ages.

IM not sure...there are actually 2 different Raw Powers...the old ones had a 490/498 pickup set in them then later ones had EMG's...I tried one once and dug it...the one I played had what would be a 50's neck...fatish but not anywhere near a historic ballbat neck

One of the online vendors shows manufacturer specs as saying 60s slim taper neck. Somewhere else I saw the spec as '59 rounded. Doesn't matter to me... thought I might want a 60s but my SG Special Faded is what Gibson refers to as rounded, probably same as '59 rounded. Either is fine with me. I would buy one from musiciansfriend but they won't ship to Canada.
My brother has friends and business contacts in the US... going to ask him if he knows and trusts anyone there to ship one to me after having mf ship it to them first.

Your original post says this model has been discontinued, but when i did an online search, it seems most of the major retailers still have them. Are you looking for a used one?

Alot of vendors still have stock but Gibson isn't making new ones... you can't even find it anywhere on their site. Can't remember where, but I saw some place that said discontinued for 2007. I called Long & McQuade here in Edmonton to see if I could catch the tail end of still being able to order one and they said no. In fact the guy said he thinks they have been officially discontinued for quite some time. I know I've never seen one on ebay advertised as newer than 2005. I wouldn't mind a new or used one. Mucian's Friend won't ship to Canada. Music123 will but the price is higher. I need to get as good a deal as possible because I will be paying CAD/US exchange, customs brokerage and probably the Canadian GST too +shipping to Canada... even if it's used I get dingged all that stuff if sent through a parcel carrier. Paying GST on used items coming from the US is kind of rediculous but apparently you can file a form to get that back.
