I had a 2001 Raw Power, killer guitar. They had 50's necks with 498T/490R pickups.

They are basically the same as the current model faded standards with the difference being the pickups (BB's on the faded), tuners (Grovers on the Raw Power), the tops (plain on Raw Power, flamed on faded), and the color (natural on the Raw Power).

Ya they look nice with gold buckers and hardware which is what I'd do to one. The black EMGs look smokin' in them but I don't want EMGs so I'd put those up for sale. The passive more classic sounding Gibson buckers are what works better for my music and make my Soldano really crunch... Like '57 classics, 490s and I also like Dirty Fingers and PRS Dragon IIs. So the EMGs which are what comes in newer models would have to go... although I think they are hands down the coolest looking pups in a Raw Power.

The hunt continues ;)

Would really like to have one that never had the pick guard put on it so it won't have holes in the body.

Mucian's Friend won't ship to Canada. Music123 will but the price is higher. I need to get as good a deal as possible because I will be paying CAD/US exchange, customs brokerage and probably the Canadian GST too +shipping to Canada... even if it's used I get dingged all that stuff if sent through a parcel carrier. Paying GST on used items coming from the US is kind of rediculous but apparently you can file a form to get that back.

UPDATE...
I called Gibson USA and the Raw Power has been discontinued for a few years now, even though some vendors still have stock.

Ya I was seriously comsidering it but they want more than what they go for new at Guitar Center or musiciansfriend... at least the ebay guys will ship to Canada though... but too much dough by the time it gets here. I have a Yorkville rep (Canadian Gibson distributor) working on the Raw Power for me... keeping my fingers crossed. There's also a Standard that I found that basically looks the same as a Raw Power that I'm working out a potential price on... has a gloss finish though and I had my heart set on the satin.
