Gibson LP Trad with P-90s!

Re: Gibson LP Trad with P-90s!

Just a fun fact I'd like to share.

Gibson has said that they've always weight relieved heavy LPs. They have even been late 50s LP specimens they have found that are weight relieved. They've been doing this forever.

the new ones arent technically "weight relieved" in the traditional sense, they are randomly 'swiss cheesed'..not a good thing. Im extremely glad my Lester is an 05(pre swissed) and a bit on the bulky side.Look, you aint gonna get premium light Honduran Mahogany no more on Lesters ( outside of the CS maybe?)so the wood what you get is just whats out there..its African "Mahogany", it isn't premium, but tis select, and heavier, and I'm willing to put up with that more than I am drilling random holes into the guitar. Not that they are terrible, but
I'd personally look around for an older guitar.

at least these have thick bodies and bindging unlike those stupid studio toys gibson tries to pretend are guitars, but yah you cant really buy a real les paul for less than 5K. Rest are just copies and fake guitars no matter what is on the headstock.

Studio bodies are the same thickness. And the rest of your statement? I don't even know what to say to that! Actually, I do know what to say, but I'm not going to bother. You've made it abundantly clear, that you're trolling.

:earl: on you, troll.

Re: Gibson LP Trad with P-90s!

Really? I've always read that the weight relieving started in the '80s. ???

I'm not saying you're wrong, but can you post a link, where this is stated? (FTR, I really don't care either way. A good sounding Les Paul, is a good sounding Les Paul, AFAIC.)

When I was looking at LPs I remember seeing a few posts on the gear page where people posted to links to a 57 LP that had the nine holes.

(This was weight relieved stuff I saw but I never saw anything about the chambering). I'm not sure where it is now but I'm sure if you looked hard enough you could find it.

trads have the thin studio bodies? Nevermind then. Toys.

Cool, I'll look it up! :1:

And not every Vintage Les Paul came with a one piece body either.

That said, I'd choose a R6 over one these Traditionals.

That also said, I think the Traditional series is the best production Les Paul they have offered since the models they are based on.

Re: Gibson LP Trad with P-90s!

I know, I know. It just gets me that every damn time someone posts ANYTHING about Gibson, some jackhole has to **** on the thread. I'm ****ing sick of it.

I like to find out a lot about companys just because it's interesting, the history etc. When I was researching Fender and Gibson I found a bunch of BIG positives and BIG negatives on both companies but when you get to that size of a company you can't please everybody. You just can't read into it too much but I guess Gibsons mistakes are more easily seen and it gives people something to do.

I play Gibsons guitars into Fender amps FWIW so I don't have a bias in this matter.

Re: Gibson LP Trad with P-90s!

05s definitely were "swiss cheesed" Jerry- they have been doing it for a few decades now on all Les Paul Standards & Customs.

In late 2006 they started chambering but they have been doing the swiss holing for a while so Jerrys is probably swissed. I've heard that in the 80s it became a common practice but I have heard of some before that.
