I have this guitar, and I dont use it and gonna sell it. As I understand its not manufactured anymore and has become a collectible? Anyone know the value of this guitar?

Re: Gibson Melody Maker 2008 Joan Jett model value

Reverb's price guide suggests $1K-$1400.

There aren't any on eBay, and only one on Reverb (asking $1700) so it would seem to be a bit of a seller's market, except for the fact that the one on Reverb has been there for TWO MONTHS. So, at that price at least, there would seem to be even fewer buyers than there is available stock. The only recently sold one on eBay had a list price of $1299 and sold for a best offer somewhere beneath that.

If it were mine, I'd probably offer it up at $1500 and take the first $1200 someone waved in my direction.

There was one on my local CL a while back. The guy was asking $1200 for it. He bumped that thing daily for months. I saw that he dropped the price to $1k and I never saw it again.

I'd agree with St_Genesius. Start somewhere around $1500 and take the best offer that comes around. It may take a little while, but someone will give you around $1200 for it.

I think you'd be able to fetch $1100 to $1300 for it. It looks like it's in great shape. Like the others have said, always ask for a higher price than you want to accept for it.

Good advice, if you are asking what you want then you have zero wiggle room to meet a potential buyer. And you may get lucky and find someone who really wants it and will pay the higher price.

Sweet guitar btw, love the color combo

Pretty cool guitars. Actually got to play one briefly at a Guitar Center a while back.

Re: Gibson Melody Maker 2008 Joan Jett model value

I really wanted one of those but couldn't find one and ended up getting a 65 melody maker that had been modded to hell and back.

Got an offer to trade the guitar for a tele blacktop, anyone think its a good deal?

Re: Gibson Melody Maker 2008 Joan Jett model value

Didn't the Tele Blacktop go for $499 brand new? Unless there's another Blacktop model I'm unaware of, I would say not just no, but Hell No.

Re: Gibson Melody Maker 2008 Joan Jett model value

Well I paid 500dollar for the Gibson brand new. So they are in the same price range. Is it because its discontiniued you mean its more worth or?

Re: Gibson Melody Maker 2008 Joan Jett model value

You can find used Blacktops all day long for about $400 -- which is actually not a bad residual value. Your guitar is worth over twice that. Not specifically because it has been discontinued -- lots and lots and lots of models get discontinued and never really appreciate in value -- but because the market happens, at least for the moment, to have swung that way. If the dude wants to give you the Tele, plus $500 go for it. That's close enough to be getting on with. Less than that, I think you'd be a fool to take it.

Re: Gibson Melody Maker 2008 Joan Jett model value

Allright, I apreciate the wisdom here guys. The guitar has been sitting in the closet for years, never played. And goten to the point I just want to get rid of it to. I guess its a no deal then ;)
