Gibson Mini buckers?

Hey guys it's been a while... all good here?

Anyone got some specs or info on a pair of Gibson minibuckers? They had a '74 SG special wrapped around them

Alnico 2?
What value should they read?
How would Duncans compare?

They sound pretty good!

Re: Gibson Mini buckers?

They should read anywhere from 6k to 6.5k. Alnico 5 would be my guess, it was pretty standard for years with Gibson.

i love the duncan vintage and seymourized versions of the minihumbucker, there is also the antiquity II version which im assuming is closest to the older gibson versions

Re: Gibson Mini buckers?

I have a custom mini in an Agile LP jr. I believe the neck is maple instead of mahogany, but the body is mahogany w/o a maple cap. It sounds like a beefed up mini humbucker: brighter than a vintage HB sound, fatter than a single coil sound, gets "tighter and brighter" with more gain, stays bright with the volume rolled off, seems like it's louder than a real mini, maybe as loud as a regular HB although with a different EQ (more highs and mids, less bass). I might stick a P90 back in that guitar someday, but I like the custom mini and it will probably stay in there for years.
