The way things are in todays guitar market I predict that sooner or later Gibson will, in order to be competitive, move production of certain models out of the USA.
I can see anything below a les paul std going there.
Yes. I know they are already making guitars in all but name........epiphone. But there is a certain kudos to a gibson headstock logo that the epi range does not have.
Given the choice of an epiphone branded far eastern built les paul or a gibson branded les paul (even if they built it in the far east) that were carbon copies of each other which would you go for?
Times have changed and it is time that gibson got with the program.

Agreed, but at that point, it can also be argued that the price-point of a skilled-machine made instrument shouldn't be as high as that of a skilled-human built instrument, it's not like the "other" US-plant has more machines that makes the standard line cheaper. But I may be wrong in my perspective on all this too...

I believe that there have been these very complaints made against Gibson for a while now.

Sir henry isn't exactly known for smart business decisions. It's amazing that someone so bad is still with the company 25 years on. I'm sure his pockets are chock full though like a good top man does.
