Gibson Semi Neck Profiles?

Hey All.
I am looking at 335's and 339's locally and the 339 is around in 30/60 and the 335 is around in the slim 60's. I am curious about the fatter (59?) profiles, but I cannot find them to try. Can anyone tell me how that fatter profile compares to the SG Std's "SG Rounded" profile? I had one of those that I just sold. It was a bit on the thick side but I did like it. Also tried an ES 137 just for the heck of it...really liked that profile and would love it on a 335. Is the 50's 335 profile much fatter than that 137 neck? The Gibson website is less than helpful in this regard as the descriptions are not consistent unless it's just me.
Really appreciate any input!

Re: Gibson Semi Neck Profiles?

IMO, the SG's neck is similar to the 60's slim taper neck which is thinner and feel flatter on the back. SG's feel similar to the 60's but instead of it being flat, it is rounded.

The fat 50's neck is obviously fatter than both.

I personally prefer the 60's necks and SG necks... I have some LP's with 50's and my hand does get fatigued more quickly on a fat 50's neck.

Re: Gibson Semi Neck Profiles?

Thanks for the response.
That's not really the case. The SG Std that I have is baseball bat...super fat. Way fatter than the 60's Tribute LP and even fatter than the Faded SG Std. I spoke with Gibson yesterday and they said that the 59 neck profile is the same (or very close) as the ES 137, which I really liked better than the 30/60 (which I liked better than the slim 60's taper).
So, a 339 with the 59 neck oughta be really nice for me. I am interested in how this Memphis Tone Circuit performs. Could be a candidtate for a pair of 59's and a vintage wiring kit. Might be perfect as is...hope I can find out.
