Gibson SG split coil

2 p-rails going in this SG, 2 vol 2 tone, 2 500K CTS Push-pull Pots going in the vol position, I need the wiring diagram for split coil. Thank you...

Re: Gibson SG split coil

Series/split is about the least useful option for the p-rails I can think of given my personal experience of it. The rails was nothing special by itself and series horribly dark and mushy. This was in an SG too, so a directly related scenario.

Re: Gibson SG split coil

Having trouble soldering the grounds to the CTS Push-pull Pot chassis, is there wax or something on them? They came with no instructions.

Re: Gibson SG split coil

Hmm, there shouldn't be...and anywhere on the switch or side/back of the pot will work. Make sure the iron is hot enough and you get in and out of there quickly.

I tin the wire and the surface spot a little bit and never have a problem like that. Technically I don’t think you have to ground to the pot chassis as long as ground wires of the circuit reach the ground of the jack some other way, like a star ground. I’ve done Jimmy Page wiring without grounding to the push pull chassis, but only running all the grounds out to a common ground wire.

I never hear of this either however I slightly scraped the spot where I wanted to solder and this time it adhered, it's a misery as much to me as to anyone.
