Gibson has sued Dean twice now. How many guitars do they have to sell to pay for those lawyers? It's makes NO sense at all to engage in these stupid lawsuits. Any stock holders should be mad as hell.

I think it is more about keeping Gibson's name at the top of the business news. My best guess is that legal and marketing are often in the same room at Gibson Corporate. All of these wins, no matter how small, illustrate the point that Gibson was the original innovator and brought forward ground-breaking designs that everyone wants to imitate. Plus in winning I am sure they are getting court/legal costs on top of the $11.
I am sure Dean isn't in a fantastic place financially. They had that, um, 'issue' with Elliot's son stealing, and then a few lawsuits. While I don't like a lot of Dean's designs, I own a super strat they made that is a cool guitar. I hope they do some innovating in the coming years and expand their fan base outside of just metal.
