Re: Gibson vs Epiphone Les Paul Model Durability
In general:
Wood and glue joints: the same on both.
Hardware: more durable on the Gibson (but this is mostly cosmetic, i.e. generally better quality plating).
Electronics: more durable on the Gibson (but Epi electronics can be upgraded).
Frets: more durable on the Gibson (though perhaps Epi uses hard fret wire nowadays).
Finish: more durable on the Epi.
Over all, the Epi is a more durable guitar, due to the very hard, plasticy finish. But the things that go into the guitar (electronics, tuners, etc.) tend to be less durable. However, these can be upgraded. That said, this does not mean that a Gibson is not generally durable enough to tour with.
Neck angle has nothing to do with it.
