Another Traynor endorser here. I have the YCV80 80 watt 2x12. These amps are great because they have master volumes so you can get great distortion at low volumes. But the power is there if you need it. Bought mine on ebay from acousic_axis_instruments. $555 brand new. That's $200 less than musicians friend

Man, if it's for home use primarily and you want the tubes to work a bit, then you're looking at way too much power. I'd be thinking about something well under 20 watts. You could find a nice silverface Fender Deluxe or Princeton (with or without reverb) to get a great basic clean tone and then hit the front end with a Tubescreamer or Fulldrive sort of pedal for a great sound (still enough to handle a small club, too).

Other good choices would include an Orange AD15, Traynor YCV20, and a host of other 15 watt EL84 amps. Even a good 5-6 watt amp like a Champ or the Bad Cat Mini would be plenty loud and versatile for home and some other uses (e.g., recording, mic'ed at a small venue, etc.).

Spend about $200 more and get a Bogner Shiva combo.
