glue for setting a neck?

Re: glue for setting a neck?

titebond 50 is what Gibson uses, right? It seems to work for them!

Re: glue for setting a neck?

A bond using normal wood glue is supposed to be substantially stronger than the two pieces of wood it holds together in the majority of situations in which you´d use it on a guitar if I´m not mistaken.

Re: glue for setting a neck?

Yes, Titebond should do fine as long as your joint is properly fitted. The glue should end up being very thin to work it's best.

Re: glue for setting a neck?

Titebond if you are sure the join is tight with no gaps. If you feel there are gaps (possible internal and not able to be seen from the outside) then epoxy, which has gap-filling properties. Not a cheap '5-minute' epoxy from the local hardware store, but something from West Systems or similar, the types used in the marine industry.
