Hi, thinking of buying a Godin Detour, heard good things about Godin as a whole. Any thoughts and opinions on this guitar? I'll be using it for metal mostly .thanks

Re: Godin Detour

I'm a fan of Godin stuff.... i'm really thinking my next guitar maybe a XTSA or even another Solidac.... The Detour i thought was pretty good good for the cash

Re: Godin Detour

Make sure that you know what the neck feels like before buying a Godin . . . they're great guitars, but it really felt a little different to me when I was playing one.

in what way was they different?

Re: Godin Detour

The one that I played had a very wide fretboard and a sort of flat shaped neck. It wasn't bad to play, but was definately different feeling . . . I prefer a fat baseball bat style gibson neck and it took some adjustment to play the Godin.

Re: Godin Detour

Godin guitars feel like guitars that should cost twice as much as they do, they really can't be beat for the price IMO. I played a couple detours the other day after thinking they looked awesome on the Godin website and was shocked when I looked at the price tag afterwards. I didn't mind the neck at all, but if it's really a problem for you I'm pretty sure the different models have different neck shapes so you could always try an LG or a Freeway (similar to detour).

My favourite Godin is definitely the LG P-90, although the Freeway and Detour are pretty close now. Hopefully someday I can buy them all.

Ya the LG-P90 is nice!!!!! The local shop has one in Gold for a real discount... All my favourite Godins have the Mahogany necks... The lower priced strat styles are still very cool for the money.... Better value to me over a new MIM Fender Standard!
