I have no experience with the P Rails but I have heard they have a lot of good sounding options but none of them great... and then I am a huge P90 guy so yeah....

Both of those models look good and with their respective pickup/electronics configurations I'm sure either one would be a winner. Definitely a tough decision to make if I were considering buying one.

Yeah, they aren't that great but they do make some solid instruments.

How'dya think they'd compare to sad a Paul/SG for grind? I was also looking at a PRS Mira. I basically want something that can do the solidbody gibson mojo really well, and then can cover alot of other bases.

i love Godins... i do want one of these Icons myself... i've used an older Godin for the last 10 years... used to gig with it a lot as it had the Piezo trem bridge and i could keep my acoustic stuff at home as we only did 2 songs where i needed some sort of acoustic sounds... and i don't think i'll do a gig with out that Godin if i ever get back in a band... but that guitar covered many sounds

Godin's line of thinking for the most part is to get the most sounds out of one instrument, and that is what they do best... so the one with the PRails is kind of striking a chord with me...

I find most of Godins mid-higher priced stuff to be extremely well made, nice lumber, nice electronics, and i like the neck shapes even if some say they feel like an acoustic neck...

I was gas'ing pretty heavy for an Icon a few months back and almost ordered the P-Rail one... good thing i didn't as i'm now strapped tighter for cash then expected... but i'm also drawn to their XTSA model as it has the Piezo Trem Bridge and a nice preamp set up in it...

ya i'm not very fond of that brown colour the P-Rail version is offered in... the sunburst one is cool with the maple top, but i kind of wonder if the all mahogany version even if plain brown sounds thicker or warmer...

This is an old thread, but I bought the Godin Icon 2 with the P-Rails and have wondered wether I'd be better off with the P-90 as well. I do understand that the P-90
part of the P-Rail is an honest to goodness P-90. But, I've never seen any useful comparative Data.

My Godin is that burgundy color referred to. The tops on those are Sapele, not Mahogany like the rest of the guitar. I would have preferred the Maple top.

I've have it back to the place I purchased it because I've had serious intonation issues with it. This is highly unusual on Godin Guitars. I'd put a Godin up against
anything. It will be as good and you can bet hundreds of dollars less.

First off you can't go wrong with either... My brother and bandmate uses the P-rail one in natural.. Sounds pretty good and powerful and he said it has so many tones on tap that it was well worth the price. Plus its made here in Canada!

WOW!! I'd like that one too. Is it an Icon? Are those P-90? I don't see any rails on them. The Icon 3 has three P-90's and no pickgards.
Wgat is that beauty?

I don't know what the difference between the Icon and the Core line is other than Core's have a pickgard and what appears to be rosewood necks. They also have Graph -Tech wrap around style bridges.
