The Mustaine livewire bridge is supposedly just an active version the JB (can't remember if the neck is like the Jazz or the '59). going with passives will be more cost effective now and down the road (considering batteries and the time to change them)...unless you don't care about the cost. DMT makes some awesome pickups and getting the Baker Act bridge and the Nostalgia neck will be like a product-improved JB and '59. either way, the livewires are supposed to have more character than the EMGs.

I think an "Active JB is a bit of an over-simplification. However, nice decription on the Baker/Nostalgia.

Got the Livewires installed and played them for a few hours today. Indeed there is a world of difference between these and the Dean pickups, they sound incredible! I was amazed how bright and clear they sound on the clean channel, with the distortion they are very metal, got that nice chun chun chun sound.

Moreover they've improved my Rocksmith game, the game has a built in noisegate that murders sustain, with the Livewires the sustain holds out much longer, and general note detection has improved!

My buddy who wired it up did a couple of mods to surprise me, he installed mini toggle switch to turn the power on and off, and a red led light to indicate the power is on! At 1st I didn't appreciate him punching holes in the fancy finish without permission, but man it looks badass lol. Plus now I can leave it plugged in(which would have been a tough habit to break).

Ah, another Deth head I see! I'm pretty sure you know this by now, but Mustaine used the JB/Jazz combo in everything from Killing Is my Business up until his hand/nerve injury in 2001 or whenever that happened. I'm sure his new signature pickups sound amazing, but if you wanna recreate those awesome Rust in Peace tones, all you need is a JB. And mad skills of course

He actually used a C5 in bridge/JB in neck for awhile, then JB/59. It wasn't until 1996 that Dave began having Jazz neck pups in his guitars then in about 2005 he switched to his custom livewire set. It doesn't really make much difference in terms of Mustaine's tone since I don't think I've ever heard/seen him use the neck pickup live.

sorry, I was thinking custom and sh-5 - so the SH-5. Forgot to mention, but I'm pretty sure he also used a JB in the Bridge and Neck for a short amount of time. And......I remember noticing during the countdown to extinction era that he was using some kind of Jackson pickups - I think ceramic pickups of some sort. I want to know what kind of pickups he was using prior to 1987 when he moved to jacksons with duncans - i.e. the rich bich that he can be seen playing from '83 while still in metallica on through the peace sells era.
