Golf Ball Guitar Build Thread

Ok, so a while back I showed you all the golf ball guitar my dad built using a cheap-o "spectrum" guitar as a measuring stick for body size, etc. Here it is:

Well, he had originally made a routed out body from the original Spectrum body and I decided to put it together. So far it is coming along pretty nicely!!! The parts are:

- Spectrum body with golf balls embedded and then finished with acrylic.
- Squier Vintage Modified neck
- Single humbucker pickguard
- Dimarzio "B1" humbucker (I believe it came out of a EB Axis) with push-pull for coil-split
- GFS vintage bridge

It actually looks a heck of a lot better than I expected!!! Pics to follow.

Here is the body and neck put together. In some following photos you can see that the neck pocket is appreciably larger than a standard Fender neck pocket. I'm not too worried about it, but definitely wouldn't use a Spectrum for a nicer build!!

Some pictures of the neck and the neck pocket.

Look at that gap!!!!

But, no worries, it will be covered by the pickguard.

Re: Golf Ball Guitar Build Thread

Later tonight or tomorrow I'll drill the bridge and get that set.

Re: Golf Ball Guitar Build Thread

Can't wait to see how long a tee shot you can hit with that thing.

LOL! Yes he is!!!

I hope to have a little more progress tonight. I'm not sure how well my trem screws are going to hold int he acrylic, I need to talk to him about that. The guitar itself (in person) looks freaking great! I'll be sure to post a video about it as well.
