Re: Gonna need a guitar for punk music...

Oh hell yeah Billy Zoom, Billy is a great player - the Rev too!

EP I found that looking for a Billy Gibbons guitar but it just sort of fit this thread.

Get the Hannah Montana guitar. It goes for like $50 new. Get it and cover every square inch of it in punk band stickers.

Re: Gonna need a guitar for punk music...

the very first guitar ive ever owned was some crappy metallic blue wanna-be-shredder yamaha guitar. got it for $100 with a 5w amp. both the amp and guitar have an unusually likeable tone for punk rock. i still own and love em both.

moral of the story, punk rock can be played through anything.

Re: Gonna need a guitar for punk music...

I had a similar experience with an ibanez grx40 and a crate 25W solid state POS.
That ibanez sounded alright for punk rock with an SSL-1 and a super distortion! Too bad i couldn't play very well back then..
Heck I still don't, but there's been some improvement ^_^

Re: Gonna need a guitar for punk music...

Quick update : I decided to do a few mods on the Jagmaster to make it feel right for punk. I basically put on 11s, instead of 9s, so they don't feel like noodles on that 24" scale. I also pulled out the Duncan Designed Distortion copy from the bridge, and put in a JB I had around. Adjusted everything so it would fit the new strings gauge, and it freaking rocks.
