Good/Bad Hamer is Back

Re: Good/Bad Hamer is Back

It's always good to see a company come back in such a way. Even if they aren't building as many or and complex instruments, the fact that they're making any sort of return is fantastic. I'll be interested to hear how the quality is on this run.

Re: Good/Bad Hamer is Back

Saw 'em on Sweetwater the other day for pre-order.

Mixed feelings. Good to see them back, but these are not the real Hamer guitars.

Re: Good/Bad Hamer is Back

That blows my mind. Jam Music Corp./KMC owns Randall, Jay Turser, Jim Dunlop, Daisy Rock and Levy's straps, (but not Ovation/Takamine?) And distributes Marshall? The same company owns ANY of those things? Ugh.

I'm pretty sure Dunlop is it's own company along with Levy. Levy also makes gun accessories. Takamine is owned by ESP.

It will up demand for USA after they get a taste of the MIK/MII/MIC stuff

Re: Good/Bad Hamer is Back

I'll never part with my '87 Chappie, but I'm not sure I'll take this seriously until they start building the same models back in the States.....

Re: Good/Bad Hamer is Back

It's on the linked website anyway. Along with MXR. Just checked to make sure their Benicia factory still existed; whew.

There might be some distribution through KMC, but Dunlop is still privately owned by the Dunlop family. KMC was also previously owned by Fender, and as far as I'm aware, Fender and Dunlop have never had a really close business relationship. In fact, the old MXR demos featured a lot guitars other than Fender/ Gretsch etc. if KMC owned Dunlop and Fender owned KMC in turn, you'd think that there would be a lot of cross promotion between the two brands.

Re: Good/Bad Hamer is Back

Hmmm. Not sure how I feel about this. Gonna have to see them first. I know when Gibson resurrected the Kramer brand I had mixed feelings until I actually got my hands on a few and then I knew they were not even close to what came out of Neptune, NJ back in the day.

I've been toying with the idea of getting a V for our 80's project we have going and a Vector would fit right in. I'd even name it Victor. :D

even then ill be shy till i actually get my hands on a few. the old ones were very well build and designed guitars, hopefully the new ones will stand up

Re: Good/Bad Hamer is Back

That is a pretty bare-bones website. The images are old stock images - a few still show them using Duncan Designed humbuckers.
