good cheap half stack for metal

Re: good cheap half stack for metal

oh yeah, sorry for the late reply for this, but i didn't like the MG. thanks for the reply though tonedeaf.

Re: good cheap half stack for metal

I would add the combo to an extension cab. However, it does not look like it has speaker out (from the fender site)
I would install an output jack, and rewire the 2 internal speakers for 16 ohms (they are 4 now, once again going by the fender site).
Find a good 8 ohm cab and plug that in. It will end up being a little over 5 ohms, so a little less power, but I doubt you will notice.
You could also run it to a 4 ohm cab, and just not use the internal speakers.

it doesn't have a speaker out but it does have a pre out. don't know what it does but i think it means pre amp out. can i use this to connect it to a cab?

Blue Voodoo

A pre-out is a line-level signal, it won't power a cab, it's for running into a recording system or something like that.

Re: good cheap half stack for metal

i found the blue voodoo and the cheapest i found is $345. the carvin i posted above costs $125, its local, but its old.

Re: good cheap half stack for metal

The Peavey Supreme head is brutal for a SS amp, and they go reasonably. At least they did when I worked for a dealer...

finding a decent 4x12 always has ben trouble for me... I could use another but I can't find any locally.

Good luck with the band!
