Curly is right....Lew played his Fulltone 69 pedal for me the other day and it really did have the Jimi vibe...If Lew likes the 69 pedal,I Know I would also...Seems our tastes are pretty close..

they are ok ... but for gritty stoner doom ... BIG MUFF! noizy clunky funky .. yes ... but I love it ..(I use old ones)

I picked up some roger mayer pedals recently ... I highly recommend them.

you can also find those old lil red MXR jimi fuzz pedals pretty cheap .. lotsa bang for buck .. but the lack of a tone feature is kinda a drag.

Re: good fuzz pedal

it seems the fulltone 69 would be a good pedal for you as it is very versitile. check them out and also check out zvex and mudhoney. Thay all make killer fuzz pedals.

others i can think of are from kendrick and voodoolabs, but i have no real experience with them.

Re: good fuzz pedal

Fulltone Soulbender, '69, '70
Kendrick Buffalo Pfuz
Lovepedal Karl
ZVex Fuzz Factory (don't own one, but used one and liked it)

Things I have heard on the web, but haven't tried:

Proanalog Scary Face
MJM
Addrock Germanium
Pedalworx McFuzz
Aramat Soulpatch
Big Tone Music Anthology
Analog Man Sunface

Personally, I like the Tonebender-type of sound the most. The Soulbender is a big, fat singing monster that is a personal favorite. The Lovepedal Karl has that same sort of vibe, but its got a bit of a ring modulator effect that is really scary. Gotta love that one. Pedalworx is coming out with their own version, and that could be interesting. The Soulbender is a MKIII type of circuit, which is dark and smooth. The MKII by contrast would be rather bright and explosive on the attack, but not as gainy and bassy in post-attack.

Re: good fuzz pedal

I do love the Fulltone '69...as a few guys have already mentioned.

To me, it nails the Hendrix Fuzzface tone even better than a Fuzzface!

A great Wah Wah goes hand in hand with the Hendrix tone and I tend to always have my '69 Pedal plugged into my favorite Wah Wah.

Right now, my favorite Wah Wah is either the Stratdeluxer97 modded Vox 847 or the Fulltone Clyde Deluxe.

I've gotta admit, I've been using the Stratdeluxer97 modded Vox more than the Fulltone! It's REALLY that good.

Re: good fuzz pedal

I'm a picky mofo when it comes to distortion or fuzz effects... i mean REALLY picky.

That being said the Fulltone '69 and '70 are the only fuzz pedals I've been totally happy with. The '69 is the smoother of the two and the '70 seems a bit grittier. I like the '69 the best becuase i can get great Jimi tones plus it coaxes the guitar into that "1000-lb violin" sounds Eric Johnson gets.

Re: good fuzz pedal

Heh sorry TWO....I never cared much for Fulltones stuff after being through some of his effects(bloody expensive too around here), I like his Deja-Vibe alot, the rest never did much for me...too polite and nice;)
I had a 69.....did not work well with anything I have, still is a puzzle to me.
Borrowed a Lovepedal Karl and was blown away...

Re: good fuzz pedal

Without a doubt, the most amazing fuzz pedal I've ever played is the Afro Fuzz by Blues and Alex Saraceno. Click on the link to learn about it.

Not only have I played it, but I've seen what it can do in the hands of a player like Blues. It's incredibly versatile. Amazing, really.

Re: good fuzz pedal

Yeah, the Karl is a bad-a** fuzz if there ever was one. Sounds great with single-coils or humbuckers. It can be set like a Tonebender, or it can get really wicked with some super low-end breakup. Odd that its a silicon box, but it sounds more germanium. Sean is a great to talk with, and I think he's come out with some of the coolest boxes around. The Wall of Noise was another brilliantly bizarre creation of his that just floored me.

1000 lb violin...hmmm. The first fuzz tone I ever heard on record was either Satisfaction by the Stones or the 2000 lb BEE by the Ventures! Buzz Awhile...

Re: good fuzz pedal

Which fuzz pedal does the 'Satisfaction' fuzz tone the best? Which does it the most inexpensively?

Thanks...
