Those Godins look like great deals. Funny how we'll all jump up and buy a Strat or a Tele with the bolt on neck, but when it comes to a "Les Paul" type gutiar, bolt on is taboo! What gives?

yup this is the gibson you want for value.
Those epi's are awesome (casino's, wildkats, LP '56 goldtop) there great sounding guitars. action is a little bad but thats such a small issue.

seems like there is a stigma attached. its perfectly fine to have a set-neck strat and tele but a bolt-on lp-type guitar is a no-no.

i am speculating that there's a consensus at the back of our heads that set-neck is far more superior to bolt-on, it enhances sustain, tone and upper fret access as compared to a bolt-on. hence its considered an improvement to have a set-neck joint on a normally bolt-on type of guitar. but not the other way around.
