Good match for 59b in SG.

Hi -

I was wondering what pup would go good with my 59 bridge. I was thinking maybe an Alnico II Pro for a more vintage bluesier type sound. Would the A2 mag mix well when used with the A5 of the 59?

Has anyone had experience with an APH-1 in the neck of an SG? How does it sound all on its own?

59n? Sounds kind of obvious...and should be fairly vintage, or perhaps a Seth. I guess the A2 will be a bit "fatter" if that's what you want.

Either the 59n or APH-1n would be a great choice. The APH-1 will give you a softer, smoother tone while the 59 is a bit more scooped. Both have great cleans and work well under high gain as well. You really can't go wrong with eiher one.

Depends what you like! The 59n or Jazz n would be excellant.

If you want more mids and perhaps less woof to the bass the Alnico 2 Pro or Pearly Gates would also be excellant.

Might be a little dark sounding. Another 59, a Pearly Gates or a Jazz would all work nicely.

I think that would be a FUN neck pup for your guitar. Any of those others would be good choices, though.

59N with an A4 solves the boomy stuff...Another great pickup that I'm using is a Jazz/59n A4 Hybrid....
