could any of you guys reccomend some good heavy metal pickups for my warlock? i was going to use emgs, but i heard they take the character out of your tone. is the livewire heavy metal pickup good? and if it is what should i use for the neck?

Just put some livewires on my teen's guitar - Fender Showmaster Blackout. He loves them. They crunch his amp without pedals and sustain for forever. Make sure you can fit two 9v batteries in there somewhere.

Also, they come with a neck pickup. But it is probably a third lower in volume output. We had heard this before we bought them and it held true.

I doubt you can fit 2 9vs in there, i've had a guitar similar to that.

I would get a distortion set. Don't be scared of EMGs they have a character all their own, some people just don't like it and feel the need to insult it.

+1 the neck pickup is pretty low output, but the Metal is a monster.

I'd probably either get the LW HMET set or the Metal Mayhem set (distortion neck and bridge).

My eldest son has a Warlock with the Duncan Distortion that I put in the bridge for him.Was playing it the other day sounds great.Had an 80's Warlock with EMG 85,81 great combo for metal too.Tried the 18v conversion makes it a bit more natural sounding(less compressed, better cleans).theres room for 2 9v batteries but its a tight fit i used velcro.
