good pickup combo? 59 bridge + PG neck

based on the clips on the S-D main page, i'm thinking of using this pickup combo in one of my LP's for a full but not too bright bridge tone, and a fat chunky but yet clean and non-muddy neck tone.

'59 in the BRIDGE (edit - used to say neck and that was wrong)
Pearly Gates in the NECK (edit - used to say bridge and that was wrong)

good? bad? whatever?

i do have another LP into which i'm pretty sure i'll load up a set of Seth's - neck and bridge.

very good combo, cant go wrong. the 59 is nice and bassy, and warm, and the pg is nice and crisp, and bright to boot, they match up beautyfully.

If it were me, I'd switch the two. I've got a Hamer Artist Korina with a pair of 59s and a Hamer Special FM with a PGn. To me, the 59 sounds best in the bridge while the PG is an awesome neck pickup. Granted these guitars are close to a Paul, but not quite the same. I don't think you can go wrong.

took me a while to figure out why you'd say to switch them when you recommended exactly what i was thinking. turns out the subject was right, but i mixed them up in the post! ha! so yeah, 59 bridge and PG neck is right.

do you know if any "big shots" use that kind of combo?

I use the PGn and 59TB in one of my Strats and couldn't be happier! Lew
