In the past, I've done my own "ghetto" version by binding together cables. Now that the XTL is my all-in-one "pedalboard", I want to run power so I won't need a power cable out to my board. It's so hard to find the 2.5x5.5 jacks to create an extension cord for the power supply that I broke down and ordered a pedalsnake a few days ago.
When it came time to seriously consider the purchase, I realized that they're not all that expensive. Running 3-4 cables from your board to your amp/rack, it's pretty easy to spend about the same money on individual cables that won't give you the convenience that the snake offers.
