Good strap locks?

I am currently looking for strap locks to put on a Strat.
Could you suggest me some that works well and looks good?

Cheers

Re: Good strap locks?

Schallers, I'm never too bothered about other people checking at how my straplocks look, and they have never failed me.

Re: Good strap locks?

i've used dunlop and schaller. both work great and i've never had a problem with either. the dunlops neede some WD40 after a while but that was it. If you are looking to put them on a strat keep in mind that the american fenders come with schallers (if you want to keep your guitar more 'authentic' i guess)

They all look like **** IMO ;)

I always recommend Schallers unless you want them recessed or have a tendency to forget your strap... in that case use Dunlops ;)

Re: Good strap locks?

dimarzio cliplocks.. i like them! less bulky and just as secure!

failing that? yeah, schaller :D

Re: Good strap locks?

go for schallers. But if you want a better looking ring on the strap try some from q-parts. They cost the saem but the holding ring is styled out a bit and the rest is the same like the schallers.

That's good to know - I've used Schallers for years, and never realized there are better-looking strap-side units for them.

I usually just buy black ones - they kinda disppear into the strap better. (Assuming the strap is black.)

Mechanically, I think the Schallers are best. Their design is such that gravity holds the guitar in the strap, and the "mechanism" simply allows it to be released. None of the fiddly mechanical bits are load-bearing. Germans.

Whoops, I keep forgetting those... Yeah, "pimped" Schallers would be the right term....

I like the schallers... if you want a pair of Qparts i have a silver set. $15 shipped. They're brand new never used but i don't have the box.

+1... they're obviously the most fool-proof design.

Re: Good strap locks?

I was devoted to Dunlops for the better part of 15 years. I had a few malfunctions due to wear on the "male" end. After almost dropping a very expensive guitar due to a straplock failure, I switched to Schallers. The big issue with Schallers is to use Loc-Tite or clear nail polish to secure the nut to the strap end of the strap lock.

Schallers. Dunlops just look retarded IMO.

Re: Good strap locks?

I have a set of Schallers on ebery electric guitar I own that is together and working. I was looking for Gold ones for my Performance, and I couldn't believe how hard they were to find. I almost bought Dunlops just to be done with it, but the Gold on the Dunlops look like cr@p. I'm glad I waited and got the Schallers, they look awesome and the Gold is gorgeous.

Schaller all the way. I also like that Gravity holds the guitar and the pin jsut keeps the strap from falling off... Much better looking than the Duct Tape we've all seen on those "grunge" guy's guitars... :laugh2:
