It's bad and sad news for me personally.
I grew up in Arlington Heights. I bought my first Hamer when I was 13. I marveled at all of the posters that wallpapered the Arlington Heights front office (stared at the Lita Ford Runaways poster the most. lol) the one time my 14 year old self visited the factory (no tour, just a long sit in the front office since I was there on business... I didn't even think to try to get a look in the factory).
Hamer was (and still is) my hometown guitar maker. I own several now and take great pleasure in their craftsmanship and mojo.
I still have that guitar from when I was 13 years old and rock out to it (It's been tuned to C# since 1996 and is a tonemonster)
I won 3 quarters out of 4 in the Superbowl gambling pool at a party my Mom took me to that year - "Da Bears"... that financed around a quarter of the cost of the guitar. My mom then matched whatever I could come up with through working Summers and saving B-Day and X-Mas money that year. I had some pictures taken in 1987 of my holding the guitar... I need to find those and scan em' in for a laugh. lol
FWIW, Hamer lives on every day at the HFC.

That is a beauty Erik! Nice taste.
Mine's all mahogany. It was a prototype for the Archtop series. It's kinda like a fatter version of an SG/LP. Same neck profile, but fatter and warmer sound.

Here's my newly acquired Hamer EchoTone. It's the first one I've owned but not the first one I've played.

Thanks. I love it. Plays so sweet. I'm going to upgrade the electronics pretty soon but leave the Duncan Designed pickups in there for a while. They sound really good in it.

Man, that Studio Custom is bad arse and I LOVE the stadium logo! They didn't last much longer after the 90's, so it's always cool to see a Studio Custom with a stadium logo.
Is it all mahogany or does it have the maple top too?
Those are the sweetest import ES-335 copies I know of and the Korean quality is really high.
Check out the binding and build quality of my Korean Jazz5

Great. If you decide to change out the pickups, I love Seths in a 335-style guitar. they sound awesome.

Hey, turn those frowns upside down guys! Just think - all of your Hamers are now going to increase in value over time as they get rarer and more collectable as people figure out how great they were!
