I was at the GC Musician's Expo on Saturday and the EMG booth had one of these as their test guitars:

It was a Mayones Regius 6, and they had it set up in Drop C. I'm not sure if this was the longer 27" scale or the 25.4" but it did feel a bit on the long side so it might've been the longer scale.

In any respect it was an amazing instrument. Very, very thin finish - you could feel the grain of the wood and it looked very, very nice. It felt very solid and resonated strongly in my hands. LOTS of sustain, nice medium-jumbo sized frets and a flat fretboard that was a bit on the wide side but a very comfortable C shape with not too much shoulder. I loved the little scallops up on the top end of the high strings. Fast, easy action all the way through.

All in all an incredible guitar. Duncan had the right idea to pair up with these guys (you can order the guitar with EMGs or Duncans). When I'm in the money for a new axe, Mayones is definitely on the list.

This one had the Schaller Hannes bridge on it, which I'd never played before and liked a lot. That control setup doesn't seem to be standard either... maybe this was a Custom guitar or just something that was older than the current one... either way, killer axe.

wow!!!... love that finish... are those the new EMGs 57/66 ?

Wow! Cool scallops.

I know... they really do make a difference up there. I like the fact that they were kind of gradual, too. Very well done and they did make playing up there easier.

that's rad. one cannot simply roll to the store up da' block and jam on one of them. maybe one day......

Re: Got a chance to play a Mayones Regius - Nice!!

Mayones is one of those brands that is so expensive that I don't gas for any of their guitars. I LOVE the design and looks of them, but I'd have to be a respected musician making a good profit to ever justify spending that much.

I'm not the target market for this, but that is a nice looking guitar.

They're made in Poland, right?
