Got a FISHMAN AST Powerbridge - what type of amplification?

So I got this interesting contraption to install on the Tele I am building. The instructions say to run a stereo cable from the guitar and split between guitar amp and acoustic amp. Any suggestions on the latter would be appreciated.

Check out Lehle. They make a Little Dual, that has two inputs, one for mono and one for stereo. Then it's just a simple A/B Box. On the stereo input, input A runs to output A and B runs to B, so depending on how you wire, you would set up your A for either the acoustic or the electric and then B for the other.

Thanks. I been googling around and looking at acoustic amps. I can't see what the difference is between them and a regular clean guitar amp. Anybody got any ideas?

It's got a tweeter built in which helps to make the acoustic sound much more natural.

If I were you though, I'd do like what John Petrucci does and just get a good imaging pedal and a good DI and send it out to the PA. Fishman makes the Aura imaging series which sound great and I believe there's an Aura with a DI built in. Depending on what you're using for the electric signal amp, you might have to spend a lot of money to get a good acoustic amp that matches that output. If you just get something like the Aura DI, you can spend less money and still get the good acoustic sound you're looking for.

Either a Fishman Loudbox or grab a DI like the Fishman Aura or LR Baggs Venue series and run straight to the PA.

The install includes a smart plug. It runs in mono when using a regular guitar cable and stereo when using with the split cable. If you have a larger gig, I would suggest sending the piezo stereo signal direct to PA. For me in most applications running the PowerGridge in mono is fine. You might need to roll the volume back a bit depending on your amp. I would check it out with your main amp to see if your dig it. Based on your needs and budget you can go with anything from an expensive acoustic amp like the Loudbox or a small keyboard amp which is essentially a small PA.

Yeah, even a keyboard amp would work. You want something full-range, which even a clean guitar amp isn't. You have to reproduce frequencies that a guitar amp can't. You might also check into powered PA cabs (at least 2-way). I send mine to a mixer (after adding reverb, delay and compression) then off to the PA system. I hear it though my monitors.

Keep in mind the piezo is great for acoustic tones but becomes a different animal with gain or modulation. You can do some really cool stuff with dirt blending the magnetic pickup and the piezo or even the piezo distorted by itself.

Live? Recording? Either way you could always run it direct to the board.
