Got GAS for the first time in a long while...

Few weekends ago I went guitar shopping with forum brother B Bent. He was shopping for something with humbuckers and I was just there to help and hang...

After playing a Gretsch that was hanging up in the first shop we landed in I was hooked!!!

After a lot of reading and even more looking I landed a new addition...

It's a 2003 G6119 Tennessee Rose.

It's a bit of an odd ball in comparison to vintage Gretsch guitars in terms of specs but it has everything I was looking for. It was plain filthy when I got it...came from a pawn shop in Texas but after a good cleaning (still needs a little more), a quick set up and fresh strings it's a rockin' piece!

reminds me of the one that I used to have. Painted f holes?

A tenesee rose is one of my "guitars that got away". I came upon one in Virginia while visiting family, but had no way to buy it until the weekend when I was paid, and I was leaving the next day. I've wanted one ever since. Congrats on a good score!

Re: Got GAS for the first time in a long while...

Thanks guys. I haven't had a Gretsch around long term in a long time and I've never owned one of my own.

It's a great guitar and a total blast to play....if very much has a fight about it but it's worth it.

Jolly, no. The f holes are real. Specs on this model are funky in terms if a vintage Gretsch which is why it's not sold as a reissue but it's got all the features I was looking for.

Nice looking ride! Enjoy it loudly.

Re: Got GAS for the first time in a long while...

Thanks again guys!

Yeah, the f holes are bound.

It's a neat guitar in terms of specs. It's a mix of 50s and 60s specs and it's a 25.5 inch scale.

It's a very cool guitar and save for getting rid of the Gibson style bridge I don't see any mods in it's future.

After cleaning it all up this afternoon it's playing and looking great and it sounds killer too!
