Bullet Proof Toneologist
Well, I got a Laney again. I had a 50 watter, traded it after doing a bunch of tweaks to it. I always missed it.... I got my hands on a 100 this week ( 6 knob version) and really dug it, enough that I am again, a proud Laney owner. I did a couple minor tweaks. The 470K res/470pf cap on the input jacks are gone, in its place I put a 68k resistor. I also put a 250pf volume cap, in place of the original. I also added a .68 cap on the presence pot instead of the .1. I am useing the low gain input dimed. ( I love the low input on the AOR line) have a PZM set back 7 feet. Useing a Squier Standard Tele, Weber Mass and an old Traynor cab I just love.
Update, I just did a quickie of my PV VTM with the same set up, kinda cool to hear the difference bewteen the two tube types. Lotta similarites with the amps. The PV is in the high gain input ( sounds better this way), the laney is in the low gain input.
Just me messing around.... Clip 1 is the Laney with el34, Clip two is the VTM with 5881
