That's good news! I hope most of his fan will look on seymour duncan blackout and other duncan products! Anyway Laiho need to upgrade his gear. The sound of the 2 last album of COB wasnt IMO very good (for his playing skill). I hope he will don't use the blackout with his stupid piece of **** of MM04 Gain booster Preamp (a total crap...).

I think you guys completely nailed a flagship model pickup for the company.
After hearing all the talk I would like to try some eventually. Hopefully you guys can get some better sound clips out that would do the pickup justice.

As much as I wanna try the Blackouts, you really think that a high output, active pickup is a good flagship model for Duncan? Doesn't seem like a very good representation of them.

No, but I'm willing to bet that high output active pickups are what the majority of players want any more these days. Almost any newer band I can think of use actives... I'm sure the majority of them will be at least trying the duncans, and probably the majority will end up using them.

Gotcha.
I would agree with your "the majority of players.... " statement as far as modern metal goes, but beyond that, I think most of the world is still chasing the PAF trail. I'll be pretty shocked if the Blackouts change the sales positions of the JB & 59.

Not an active fan at all here, but I think it's cool what SD did in offering 2 size for 7 string guitars (And I'm not a 7 string fan either).

i never thought of emgs as noisy anyways. i dont think thats a very big improvement, and i actually like the compression of emgs. i am starting to have mixed feelings about the blackouts actually, I still will try a pair though. will emg star marketing themselves as the original active now?
