Got My Crazy 8 Today!!!!

Re: Got My Crazy 8 Today!!!!

It just occured to me that the PA pole pieces are a way to spread out the magnetic field without using large high mass pole pieces like the Invader. Same sort of deal with the Dimebag.

It will be interesting to see how it compares with the standard pole pieces. For those who opted for the standard configuration chime in when you get yours set up.

Re: Got My Crazy 8 Today!!!!

I know some folks think they are bogus, but what about some EQ numbers for reference? Isn't the PATB-III a 646?

If we charged your account, then it's been shipped.

I noticed that my account was charged yesterday, so I guess mine has been shipped. The receipt from Derek said it would ship on 6/28.

I guess mine's coming ahead of schedule!

What's all this talk about a Crazy 8 with standard pole pieces? As I understand the description of the pickup, it has parallel axis pole pieces. It's available in standard and trembucker spacing, but that wouldn't have anything to do with what kind of pole pieces it has. Besides, you can't make one version with parallel axis poles and another with standard slugs and expect them to have the same tone, response, etc.

Hopefully Frank or Evan can clear this up. Do both models have parallel axis pole pieces?

Re: Got My Crazy 8 Today!!!!

Can you measure the resistance of the 2 coils?

Re: Got My Crazy 8 Today!!!!

I thought PA buckers were universal spacing and because of the whole PA design there was no different spacing for it.

"Bobbins: Parallel Axis Trembucker or Humbucker".

There may be slight/subtle differences between the two... that is all that is implied.

Hm. Bright was not what I sought. I'll still try it out in my axe, though.

Re: Got My Crazy 8 Today!!!!

Was Guitarzan the only one that received their Crazy 8 so far? I am counting down the days.

I'm 99% sure they're both using the PA poles. "Humbucker" and "Trembucker" are SD's words to describe the physical size of the pickup. Trembuckers are wider.

Re: Got My Crazy 8 Today!!!!

i got mine yesterday.. gonna try it out over the weekend but i want to get a couple of things set up so i can record a before and after comparison with the distortion currently residing in the test gtr.
