Got my Pearly Gate Bridge.

Re: Got my Pearly Gate Bridge.

Do you find the top end to be bright? That was always my impression. Glad you like it anyway...enjoy!

Re: Got my Pearly Gate Bridge.

As I said in your previous PG thread, I love my PG/B for leads, but am not too fond of it for rhythm work. It is definitely a very underrated humbucker though. I'm glad you like it.

I didn't really think it was under-rated? :13:

I tried one in my Les Paul. Not my cup of tea, but I'd say the PG neck is the best neck p/u I have personally tried. I settled on a '59 in the bridge. Anyway, I'm glad you like it in your instrument.

A lot of people on this board slag it for being too harsh. I rarely see it recommended as a bridge pickup - Seths and 59's seem to get the most good press. Maybe that's just my impression though.

Re: Got my Pearly Gate Bridge.

I pulled the chamfered polepieces from my PG and put in some old Gibson polepieces from a blown 60's P90---still has some bite, but much more like a good honky early 60's T-Top.

Re: Got my Pearly Gate Bridge.

I don't think my PG+ (8.75K) is too top heavy. Yes it is bright, it has uppermids, but its not brittle. Rolling the tone to 6-7 it gives Duaney's Fillmore tones very nicely because of its uppermid heavy scream.

Guys we are getting a 10K PAF with mismatched coils and aged a5. Wouldn't you think that it rather would sound like a PG+? That's my feeling, I expect it to be sounding a little stronger and darker than that PG+ of mine. I think I'll love that pickup.

I love them PG+'s and I think all that talk about them being somewhat icepicky, I think, ain't doing it justice. It simply has more uppermids than a hot 59b, or a hot antiquity bridge with an a5 magnet.

I am using 500K's with it, and it matched perfectly with a 8.10K PGb with an a3 magnet. I love them.
