Got my SFX-03 !!

I placed my order back in Feb.:yell: Finally it's here!
My 1st Impressions? AWESOME! So far I've only used it with my HRD. I'm desperately trying to get some clips up. Problem is... My landlord has his office right above me. So I can't be ripping away while he's on the phone w/t his clients.:27: But the bigger problem is my engineering skills seem to have gone into the crapper? I'm getting some righteous tones from the Twin Tube Classic. Just can't seem to capture em':smack: I'll try again in the mourning if
the proper window of opportunity should arise? That is.. Jr. at school,Wifey at work and the landlord out doing estimates.

Re: Got my SFX-03 !!

I am intersted, but fear what it sounds like. I want a Santana like lead tone from a tube based (read smooth) pedal.

For what it's worth, I can do the Carlos thing all day long with my SFX-03. It's amazingly smooth and dynamic. If that's the kind of tone you want--singing, articulate sustain, you need to try this pedal.
It does a lot more than just smooth sustain, but it does that great!

hey matt - who is in your avatar pic with you? lisa loeb? :D

and cool on sfx-03 doing santana ... does the sfx-03 add the 'touch sensitive', 'blooming note', 'controllable feedback on demand' thing (a la larry carlton and his dumble)?

Yep--that's Lisa Loeb and me at a GP function in NY. I wanted to be her #1 Single but I think I was more like #1,000,007.

As for the SFX-03 (which is cute, but not as cute as Lisa), I think it does everything you're talking about. The thing sounds, feels, and reacts like a great tube amp. For the record, I generally don't like distortion boxes with tubes in them. But this thing flat-out rules. I use it all the time.

Re: Got my SFX-03 !!

I will have to look at it again. I understand it is running the tubes at traditional amp voltage levels, correct? How flexible is the one tone control per button? I fear using it with a single channel amp set clean, and still being able to use it like an it was 2 additional channles typ of thing as I would not really be able to eq each setting a lot differently. For example, how unrealistic is it to set the amp country clean, use the first first button for a Marshalesque rhythm with the second button going to Santana?

Everyone needs to decide for themselves whether it can do that to their satisfaction. Personally, I'm running it exactly as you described--into a clean amp that's set relatively bright. I set the rhythm channel about half-way for a plexi-style crunch and the lead channel gain about 3/4. I freaked out at first when I saw that those two channels shared EQ but I swear it's never been a problem for me. I think the two channels are voiced about as well as they could be to share EQ but you'll have to judge for yourself.
Seriously, just try one. You'll know if it can do what you need. Then let us know!

We want clips!
Clips, Is exactly what I'm getting.:yell: I just adjusted the input level on my sound card. I'm thinking that been the problem all along.:smack: The lead channel definitely has some singing sustain. Just as Matt B. said, You should have no problem getting a Santana like tone from this.:D

It's a reality with the SFX-03.:D In my clip I have my amp set for a Funky Clean sound. (HRD, Vol.on 3, all EQ at 12 O'Clock ,Bright switch in,Verb on 2)
At the end of the riff I hit 2 power chords w/t the Rhythm channel on that seem to enter Marshall Territory. I love the Tone I got in the Lead channel. (Although my playing is a bit sloppy & abrupt in place's):smack: The Tone is there.:)
