Got Myself a 1983 Fender Super Champ Today

Re: Got Myself a 1983 Fender Super Champ Today

Those amps were, I believe, designed by Ed Jahns, an aerospace tech who worked for Fender during the Paul Rivera era. I don't think Paul actually designed them. Neither did Paul actually design the Twin Reverb II amp. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's what I read in one of the history of Fender books.

Thanks, bro! Nothing like getting engaged, but it's still cool. :friday:

Of course there is: getting engaged AND buying yourself new gear at the same time... I've been GASing like crazy in the last few days... :cool2:

If you do a google search for "Ed Jahns Fender" it's all there...

I'd be really curious to hear your impression after playing your Super Champ and comparing it to the new Super Champ?

I saw one today at my local store, but didn't have time to plug in.

Actually, I did better than I realized. They were selling the amp for $899, not $799. The price on their website is $899, but someone mistakenly put a $799 sticker on it. They rung it up as $899, but I knew the total was off. They showed me the price they had in their computer inventory, but when I showed them the sticker on the amp, they had to give it to me at that price. It's still a high price to pay, but it feels good knowing I got it for $100 less than they were willing to sell it for. They even told me upfront that they weren't going to move on the price at all, given the condition.

NEW STUFF ROCKS!!!
