Well....that is one old compressor...and what a nice sound it has after it got a small check up....one of the caps was gone....but for a 41 year old thing...that is ok I guess...

I have a Distortion Plus that old.... Doesn't look as good, however.

Very nice! I love those old compressors. Much more of an 'effect' than modern ones.

Re: Got this old thing in for a checkup...

One of my favorite Comp pedals--a tad noisy but still great! Thanks for sharing!

Re: Got this old thing in for a checkup...

I had one of those once
it had one too many beers and had become a nice distortion pedal

oddly i do that too

Re: Got this old thing in for a checkup...

Did you mod it for troo bypass? :p
:lmao:Hahaha and blend...and a VU meter...plus midi and a combined tea and coffee machine too ;)
Anyways this baby is sweetsounding, works great with your guitars volume, not much else besides other equally old comps has that particular soft round tone...very pleasent, got a Guyatone Driving compressor as well here at home....love those old boxes for guitar...pure and simple stuff...
And both are quiet as mouses when set in non extreme ways....

I have a Danelectro Surf & Turf Compressor which is supposed to be a clone of the Ross (not verified by me). But it does sound great- round and squishy, and it sounds great at all settings. It is great on acoustic, too.

Re: Got this old thing in for a checkup...

I don't remember the year, but I have a MIJ CS-3 that sounds amazing. I really wish they'd changed the model number with the VCA change in the early 90s; the older MIJ version is a totally different pedal. I suppose the upside is that you can still find the MIJ version for cheap because of the new one's rather lackluster reputation.

Edit: Now that I think of it, the same is also true of MIJ DD-3s. People have caught on to DD-2s and they're not the bargain they used to be. I can still find MIJ DD-3s for < $100 and it's the same pedal. :bigthumb:
