Graphtech String Saver saddles?

How do you guys like these? Are they worth it? How do they sound?

I'm thinking about replacing the saddles in my TonePros AVT-2 bridge. Not sure what material they are made of, but I'm curious about the Graphtech stuff. Anyone got any experience with this swap?

Thanks. :)

Re: Graphtech String Saver saddles?

i have the graphtech string saver classics on a guitar that i built and they work great. very little breakage (i tend to break strings at the saddles) and the tone is slightly darker than a steel saddle but still lively. those are the only graphtech i have a ton of time with but id buy em again

Re: Graphtech String Saver saddles?

I tried them on a Nashville bridge/Les Paul, they deadened the attack i didn't like them at all.

Re: Graphtech String Saver saddles?

I have them on a Warmoth Strat and 2 Ernie Balls. I don't break strings at the bridge anymore, and it seems to mellow out the high end in a pleasing way. Also, they are nicer on the side of my hand than conventional bent saddles.

Thanks for the replies, dudes!

A mellower high-end would be nice in this guitar. Not sure about deadening the attack, though, because that's one thing I love about this particular guitar. I guess I can't have one without the other, eh?

How do these hold up over time, BTW? Are they as resistant to wear as metal?

Re: Graphtech String Saver saddles?

Have you ever used a graphtech nut? Well the saddles are just as tough, they will wear as much as the black tusk nuts do, so no big deal i guess

They break easily. i broke one putting my stock saddles back in just trying to remove it.

Re: Graphtech String Saver saddles?

As mentioned good for taming high end and well made. I have only ever used them on a single guitar and that was so long ago.

Re: Graphtech String Saver saddles?

Me no likey.

Brass saddles could be an option for mellower sound while not muted.

Taking a saddle out of a bridge is an easy accomplishment. Thats all i did & the saddle broke in peices. its compressed graphite what do you expect.

Re: Graphtech String Saver saddles?

Well their nuts are damn tough i doubt you can break them, maybe a bad batch? iirc graphtech has been quite upfront with defective products replacing them quickly, however you have to open your mouth and let them know their product failed to get anything

I've had the same experience as JMP. Dead tone. Break (at the threads) when removing.

I've never had a problem with broken strings at the saddle. But that, and sharp edges can easily be fixed with a file and sandpaper!

I don't like any component of my guitar to purposefully and permanently remove tone. I can do that with my tone pot and easily restore it when I want by turning it the other direction. It is so frustrating to want a bit more high end from my guitar and realize that I did something stupid to make that impossible. I had at least 2 or 3 sets installed which I quickly removed (I didn't even mind that a couple saddles broke during this process).

Mine broke at the threads as well which rendered the whole set worthless.
