Re: great cabs for HUGE live sound?
I think the AORs stock already have way too much bass. Going into a bassy 4x12" with bassy speakers with the bass boost knob pulled out you're possibly going to find yourself WAIST DEEP IN FARKIN' MUD!
If that's your thing, then I guess it could work for you but if you want to retain midrange growl and top-end detail/sparkle then you may look for a slightly more modest option.
Driven with an AOR an Marshall 1960 4x12 will be sufficiently "big enough" for what your shooting for but if you have the extra cash, then an Orange 4x12 is a step above in quality and a slightly looser/smoother/darker response.
In terms of speaker selection, I would strongly recommend avoiding celestion G12T-75s. Boomy bottem-end, hollow midrange, and laser beam top-end will make your AOR sound ugly. Vintage 30s and G12H-30s, especially in combination work great. This is the setup I use with my AOR-50 series II. I'm using an x-pattern of WGS V30 clones and some old G12H-30s from the 70s. The V30s bring out the cut and punch n' growl, and the H-30s are sweet and warm. If I could find my damn step-down voltage converter (my amp is an American export wired for 110v) I could make a demo for you.
Greenbacks also sound good, though darker and looser, are not really a safe option with a 100 watt head.
