It was THIS amp used in this clip in the studio that I had a shot at that was owned by Damon.

Dooooood... LOVE me some Damon Johnson/Brother Cane/Slave To The System/Red Halo!!!

There are always a bunch of DJ CDs in my cars. The wife and I spent some time chatting with him in September when he played a solo acoustic gig in a friend's back yard here in Billings, MT. There were about 20 of us just sitting around, enjoying songs from Damon's catalog for two and a half hours. He was only scheduled to play for 90 min. But he just kept playing and telling us stories. And then we were first in line to chat with him afterwards, buy t-shirts/CDs, take our pics with him. He stayed late even though he had to be at the airport at 4AM the next morning. Then my wife's coworker was on the same flight and snapped a pic of a very tired looking DJ that morning.

Have liked that guy since the 90s. Was nice to finally meet him and have him be even more gracious and humble than we'd imagined. A case where the man more than lived up to the myth!!!

Yeah I need to send a bill to everyone who’s ever complained about the noise.

Ha ha... it was a weird deal. A friend of mine had met Damon at a show elsewhere, and booked him to perform a solo acoustic gig at his house, and then sold tickets to a couple dozen of us to finance it. Was a "strange" but memorable and enjoyable evening.

Really nice guy who has been screwed blued and tattooed by the music industry and that's a FACT! We are both from Birmingham and cross paths from time to time. I would like to see him with Thin Lizzy but miss Brother Cain the most it was a great band and a D#$# shame what the industry did to um!! PS miss my ol buddy Topper Price who did the harp clip on that track a bunch. Tragic thing another good friend who killed himself with the drugs sadly. Brings back memories hearing that BC track!

Re: Greatest amp you’ve ever played

Back in the day I had a '69 Metal Panel with a gain mod by Keith Reineger of the Amp Lab. It was glorious.
BUT! The best amp I ever played was a friend of mine's early '70s 1987 with a simple Master Volume mod. If I were guessing, I think it was a '73. Don't know why this one sounded so amazing. But it did. It haunts me to this day. I don't with certainty, but some say the '73-'early '75 have 'Chicklet' Caps and that makes them different. I have no idea. Whatever the reason, it felt like no other amp under my fingers. Think I was playing my '76 Destroyer.

Re: Greatest amp you’ve ever played

I had a Traynor YBA-1 Bass Master (the one with the daisy chainable inputs) that I had modded a few times that made this brilliant compact tone that I just have never found exactly again.

I regret selling it.

Re: Greatest amp you’ve ever played

Years ago
I played a Fender Prosonic at a shop
And literally everything I plugged in sounded incredible

Everything

Squires, PRS McCarty, Tele
Budget axes

So musical

I had owned one, and wanted to love it. But i needed a super tight high gain amp, and while it was high gain, it wasnt super tight. I gave up on it before i owned or thought to try the Prosonic through a decent 4x12 cabinet. That combo's 10 inch speakers were too dark for me. Although i also found i prefer solid state power sections for high gain tones since then too, so there's that too.

Metaltronix M-1000...after having sent it off to FJA Mods for some work on the preamp section.

Metaltronix? ha I'm guessing they didn't spend much time on naming the company and hopefully invested that saved time into the design. :lmao:
