No tone control in those, btw - 2 volumes, 2 spin-a-splits...

Actually, they were tone controls. They had caps. As you rolled back the tone, you split the pickup. Cool idea really.

Tone roll-off AND coil split in one. Sometimes useful, sometimes annoying.

Yup. I've had a couple of customers ask me to unhook the "split" connection. One added a couple of push-pulls for manual control.

I'm all about the tele for playing funk. Funk has become a large amount if what I play.

But the Nile Rodgers Hitmaker is undoubtedly THE funk guitar.
